Hey, friend! In Atlanta, it's soup time. It's walking around your neighborhood in a sweater with a cup of coffee and watching the leaves blow gently time. Unlike most of the rest of the U.S., it's the time where we're more likely to get projects done outside the house–because summer was far too hot to spend much time outside. It's the time I wish our new house had a functioning fireplace, because I'd be sitting in front of it with a tea while my record player plays... but I'm still sitting with tea in the room the fireplace would be in, sipping tea, listening to music. Did you know I made it through a few tough poetry classes (my college degree was in creative writing) by simply writing about how much I missed autumn for two entire semesters? Florida doesn't get this time that I'm enjoying so deeply here. Autumn puts me solidly in nostalgia mode, and I've compounded it by finally taking on the task of clearing out my 11-year-old iMac to donate, only to find four years of missing pictures of my son from when he was born until around four years old. Just sitting on the couch next to my wife deep in my memories. I'm not saying the world or country is any better off today than it was a few months ago, but maybe it is? It feels a little better. I feel a little better. I hope you feel a little better. I hope, if you're somewhere they celebrate Thanksgiving, you're prepping to spend quality time with the person or people you love. If you're not from a Thanksgiving land, I hope you're joining us in preparing to go absolutely bonkers in December for the holidays. And if you don't celebrate them, hell, I just hope you're happy.
