Hey, friend!

New course

I'm so excited about this next course I'm recording. I'm sharing opinions about how to run a development team that I've been honing and developing for over a decade. Honestly, this course makes more sense for me to teach than anything I've taught before now--because I spend more of my life building and running my team at Tighten than I do anything else.

At this point, you, dear newsletter reader, know more about this course than almost anyone else. That's all I'm gonna share for now, but I'm excited! Plus it's going to be free for everyone!

On-site and Laracon

Next week we'll have almost the entire Tighten team together at Laracon. We've started merging our company onsite and Laracon into one annual trip, so we'll be together in an Airbnb in Denver for a few days before the conference, and then attending the conference together. This is my work highlight of the year, getting to spend quality time in person with the team, just... enjoying each other's company. We don't work much, and instead just get a moment to get to know each other better, play games, eat great food, and chill.

I've been to Laracon and other similar conferences, and spoken at them, and sponsored them, for so long that my experience at the conference is different than it once was. I love the talks, but I seldom catch many of them, opting to spend the time meeting with old friends and business connections and connecting with new people. I'm the king of the "hallway" track, I guess.

I dunno, y'all, there's so much going on I don't have anything deep to share at the moment. We moved recently, and between trying to sell the old house, trying to fix up the new house, and (because I'm a masochist) taking ownership of cleaning up a little overgrown community park in our new neighborhood, I'm just slammed. Oh, and the kids have been home for the summer. So.. next month maybe I'll have something more to say! Thanks for reading even when I'm just rambling. :)

  • I'm deep into recording my next course. The topic on this one is *very different*--I don't know if we have anything else like it in the Laravel community or even much outside of it. I'm very, very excited about everything I'm sharing here. Definitely my most personal course. (Tweet with photo)

  • Also... big goal for my next course? Get a setup where there's not a big mic hanging in front of my face. Mic nerds, just know I'll be bothering *all* of you soon. I know the first step is to go crazy on sound treatment, but.. I've already gone *kinda* crazy. Guess crazier? (Tweet)

That's it for now!

Until next time...
