Hey, friend!

I am having such a good time sharing things I've been building!

The Business of Laravel Podcast

The new podcast I've been developing, The Business of Laravel, just released its first episode yesterday, an interview with "Godfather of Laravel" Ian Landsman.

I can now share that the podcast is going to center around interviews with leaders who are doing business with and within Laravel. I'm hoping it inspires and educates our community and the surrounding world on how Laravel can enable us to build our dream businesses.

You can listen or subscribe online, or watch it on YouTube.

My Next Video Course

I'm a few days away from announcing the video course I've been building. This one's on someone else's platform (it'll be familiar... 😬); but I'm already starting some early work on my first independently-released course, which I'll share with y'all as I go.

What I can tell you now is that it's a walkthrough of the real-life practical steps I took to build a SaaS–with the goal of showing what really happens when building a SaaS, rather than what is most convenient for us as tutorial authors to use as our examples.

I just wanna creaaaaatttte...

I've mentioned this recently but I always just have so many more projects than I have time for. What I wouldn't give to be able to one day spend all day every day writing and teaching and building. But for now, I'm just grateful to have a role at the company that benefits from my work doing these things.

Yah, I have a lot of day-to-day responsibilities at the company, so it doesn't leave much space or time, but I can always justify writing, teaching, speaking, or making videos because they help get my name (and therefore Tighten's) out there.

So.. I'm just going to take advantage of it while I can. And enjoy it! And who knows what opportunities I'll have in the future. You'll know when it happens, I can tell you that for sure.

  • Funny story--I was talking on here about already owning an Apple display and some folks responded like I was crazy spendy. Turns out I already own an Apple *Cinema* Display, not an Apple *Studio* Display. Now I understand the response. My bad lol (Tweet with photo)

  • I'm working on building a guest list for @businesslaravel. Could you help? My goal: To find people whose business is connected to @laravelphp, whether b/c they're using it to build their business, or b/c their business is in the Laravel ecosystem. Bonus points for new faces! (Tweet)

  • It's interesting watching folks outside @laravelphp  surprised when our "full-stack framework" involves using outside tools or frameworks. Laravel isn't about Not-Invented-Here. We pull in non-Laravel PHP, JS, & CSS packages out of the box in every app, and the installer prompts you to install even more, like Alpine, Vue, React, & Inertia. Some Laravel apps have only HTML on the frontend. Others vanilla JS, or Laravel Livewire (which uses JS). Others React, Vue, Ember, Angular, and more. Laravel isn't about purity. It's about shipping. Until next time...
