Hey, friend!

It's spring, and you know what that means:

I'm buying domains.

I can't help it! My wife is buying plants and building a beautiful garden for us, and I'm buying domains and planning wonderful new projects. It's just who I am.

I've got a video course (on a familiar platform!) I'll wrap up at the end of May, 1-2 other video courses (one on a new platform, one of my own) I'll be working on this year and next, a new podcast I'm so excited about, and quite a few more things I can't wait to share with y'all.

Unfortunately, that means I've overcommitted myself. Again. I finish my work day, spend time with my family, and as soon as the kids are asleep, I have another 2-4 hours of work left. No time to work out, barely any time to clean, and certainly not enough time to sleep.

My friend Aaron Francis said he's in his Try Hard period. I identify with this; it's not hustle culture, but it's also a recognition that where I am isn't where I want to land. I want to set my family up for something more, and that's gonna take some hard work right now.

But I still have this probably-unrealistic dream that I can absolutely bust my ass and be present for my family and take care of myself. I don't know exactly how we're going to make it work, but I'm committed to figuring it out.

Stay tuned, I guess! I'll keep you up to date about how I figure this out... and what the projects are I've already committed to. 😆

Here's a blurred sneak peek of my upcoming podcast, by the way, just for you lovely email friends:

The sharp-eyed of you may notice a familiar face in the guest slot, but that's just a placeholder. Don't make too many assumptions!

  • Every once in a while someone tweets in a way that reveals they say the “at” sign when reading tweets, and I now wonder if I’m the only one who doesn’t? When I read this: “I work

@github” I read “I work GitHub”, not “I work at GitHub”. Is it just me?(Tweet)

  • My kids have outgrown Bluey & it makes me sad on a regular basis to not be watching it any more. My Twitter timeline suggests an episode came out today (to Americans) that was very emotional. Am I going to catch up on the last few seasons? By myself? Of a kids show? Probably? (Tweet)

  • I've shared this before, but as I catch up *tons* of email today, I'm reminded once again that you can very often replace this: "I'm so sorry I left you hanging" with this: "Thank you so much for your patience and understanding" and it may remove a lot of guilt. Does for me. (Tweet)

That's it for now!

Until next time...
