It's summer, around here! Kids are done with school, and I was steeling myself for months and months of wildness until I looked up and realized... their school starts again seven weeks from today. That's actually not that much.
We're going to attempt a trip to see my family. 11 hours (without stops), 730 miles, just me and my two kids in a truck on the interstate. 😳 This will be fun!
But no matter how nervous I am about that trip, I'm most excited about the world becoming a little bit more normal again. I flew to Chicago to spend time with Dan (my business partner) and his family. Flew to Connecticut to spend time with Dave, our head of client services. Going out with friends to restaurants. My kids aren't vaccinated, so it's not life-as-usual yet, but this is still a level of freedom I definitely didn't expect to see so soon.
It feels like letting out a little bit of a collective breath. Almost like when Trump lost. There's so much anxiety we've all been holding over these last few years. Just ask anyone who's a therapist; they'll tell you most of their clients are going through it.
